Pros & cons

Pros & cons are determined at character creation and define various advantages or disadvanages that apply to your character. Pros cost XP points to buy and cons award free XP points when taken.

Pros

Big (Pro, 4-20 XP)

You are a large person. As a result, you get more health slots than usual. Each health slot costs 4 XP to buy up to a max of 5 health slots for 20 XP.

Resilient (Pro, 4-20 XP)

You are mentally and emotionally resilient. As a result, you get more insanity slots than usual. Each health slot costs 4 XP to buy up to a max of 5 insanity slots for 20 XP.

Prodigy (Pro, 2 XP)

The normal rules for the max rank your character can take due to age does not apply to the skill (not attribute) of your choosing. The overall max rank is still 5 (without bonuses).

Prodigy can be bought multiple times, each time applying to a new skill.

Cons

Color blind (Con, 2 XP)

Someone with normal vision are sensitive to frequencies of light producing red, blue and green colours. Your character is less sensitive to one of these colours and have trouble separating certain colours and hues as a result.

Those with reduced sensitivity to red and green light commonly has trouble separating red, green, orange and brown and also typically have trouble separating blue and purple hues. Those with less sensitivity to blue light typically has trouble separating blue and yellow, blue and green and violet and red.

Emotional baggage (Con, var. XP)

You start with levels of either anxiety, phobia or depression (see corruptions). Your character gains free XP equal to the amount of corruption levels taken.

Notorious (Con, var. xp)

Notoriety can be bought by any character with points in the background Celebrity. Your character is now famous for some negative action, like an act of evil. Notoriety turns all bonuses from Celebrity into penalties. Taking notoriety awards XP up to the level of fame the character has.

At the GM’s discretion and depending on the reason for the notoriety, it could make NPCs more afraid of the character. In such cases, the character may retain the bonus from Celebrity, particularly when using intimidation.

Example : Chris has three points of fame. When Chris meets a person, the GM rolls 1d5 (on a 1d10). Normally, this could give Chris a +3 bonus to manipulation. However, Chris also has notoriety, turning the +3 bonus into a -3 penalty.

Small (Con, 5 xp)

You are small, even at teenage or adult age. The exact reason why is up to you. Finding clothes that fit you can be hard and some people may view it as a weakness. In game game mechanic terms, being small can be a hindrance concerning reach, speed and the handling of large equipment.
