Sometimes, players need to do attribute checks. This is typically when dealing damage or soaking damage, but other situations could call for it.
Attributes are much like other checks in that you roll your two dice as normal, but there are a few key differences.
- Attribute rolls use only one attribute (ex. strength)
- Attribute rolls treat dice as if they were a lower die type – half the type.
- d4 die are treated as d2
- d6 die are treated as d3
- d8 die are treated as d4
- d10 die are treated as d5
Example : John and Rupert are both 12 years old. John lands a punch on Rupert and deals 2 damage. Rupert tries to soak the damage with an Endurance attribute check. Rupert’s Endurance is 2 and he rolls 2d3 (+1d3 -1d3) receiving a total of +2 -3. 2 (endurance) + 2 – 3 = 1 and so Rupert soaks (ignores) 1 damage and receives 1 damage.
