Armor rules
On the character sheet, any armor has four main stats explained below:
- Absorb
- Convert
- Agility modifier
- Covers (COV)
Absorb is damage reduction; how much damage is absorbed by or dealt to the armor instead of you. If an attack deals 6 non-lethal / lethal damage against a character with an armor with level 2 absorb, 2 of those damage are absorbed by the armor, leaving a remainder of 4 damage to be further dealt with dealt with.
Convert defines the armor’s capacity to turn lethal damage into non-lethal damage. Looking at convert on its own; if an attack deals 6 lethal damage against an armor with a convert score of 4, that means the character in the armor is dealt 4 non-lethal damage (which can be soaked) and 2 lethal damage.
Agility modifier is a measure of how the armor affects mobility. Generally, armor constricts mobility and so this modifier will be negative. However, when worn, negative agility modifier is countered with strength. Every rank in strength adds a +1 to Agility Modifier up to a maximum of 0. Strong characters are less restricted by heavy or clumsy armor.
Covers explains which part(s) of the body the armor covers. F.ex wearing a bullet proof vest may not help against a hit to the head. Knowing what parts of the body are protected is generally most useful when an attack targets a specific body part or when characters are otherwise subjected to damage from the environment, such as by falling rocks.
