Getting and using the digital charactersheet

Among the printables, you can find character sheet(s) in Google Spreadsheet format. Those who have a google account (most do) can make a copy of the character sheet to their own Google Drive and then edit that file to create a sheet for their character. This quick, little guide shows you how.

Step 1 : Open the character spreadsheet

Just head on over to printables and open the digital character sheet spreadsheet.

Step 2 : Make a copy of the character spreadsheet

Open the file menu and choose “copy”. A copy of the spreadsheet will be created on the root of your google drive.

Step 3 : Creating your character

Now that you have your own copy, you may want to create your character. The sheet for digital creation has two important sheets in it. Look to the bottom of the spreadsheet screen. You should see a label saying “Input” and another saying “Character sheet”. The principle is easy : you put your characters input with numerical values and the like in the input sheet and spreadsheet code outputs that to the character sheet with traditional dots. Try writing f.ex “4” in dodge on the input sheet and then head on over to the character sheet, you’ll see it says dodge 4 there as well.

Optional step 4 : Printing your character / save to PDF

Although this sheet is mainly for digital keepsaking, you may still want to print it out or save it to PDF. You do it like this :

  1. Select the “Character sheet” sheet
  2. Press Ctrl + P or the print icon in the upper left corner.
  3. Make sure the following alternatives are selected and click print
    • Selected sheet
    • Print without gridlines
    • Fit to width
    • Portrait layout
  4. Now you should see a print preview. Notice the left sidebar – it has options on it. See destination. Here you choose whether to send the print to a printer or to a PDF file (or possibly some other option available to you). If it’s not set to what you like, press the button to change and set it to your liking.
  5. Click Save or Print out
